first of all thank you for your feedback so far.
These changes were made for one big reason: To neutralize some big balancign issues, which were made in the past and are causing more and more problems for us. It was never planned that the recruit is the most effective unit in the game. The original plan was that at some point the militia and soldiers will take the recruit's place.
Also that end game weapon productions are not even near to being seriously considered was also never part of the plan. So, to sum it up, the main reasons for the new balancing are:
* Increase the value of late game units (especially soldiers)
* Increase overall unit losses to make weapon productions necessary (most adventures gave nearly the same amount of weapons that were used)
* Increase weapon value
* Increasing the difficulty to play multiple adventures in a short time, so that it needs some skill and economic mastery to create a lot of resources out of the adventure loot (and the need of buffing and cooperation overall)
Of course, this is only a first iteration and a lot of values are not final. I already have a list of additonal things to take care of (short term), such as:
* check on general's balancing (especially the Master of Arts balancing)
* shorten production times (units and resources)
* Re - structure the splash damage, especially on enemy units
* Increase population gain possibilities/effectivety
* Check on Cavalry balancing
And I am sure, there is still more to do.
Additionally, I will raise the overall loot in adventures on most parts to recompensate for the removal of the weapons. My goal is not to decrease the value of the adventure loot.
And why are we doing it now? Because the new combat will be balanced on the base of the old one, since there are some touching points and we want to avoid having the problems we have now with the old system. So, it is now or never.
However, I want to encourage you to give us your honest opinion about the changes and especially WHY you like/dislike the chages.
