    [Dev Diary] Mountain Clan Campaign

    

    Dear Settlers,

    It's been almost eight months since we first introduced Mountain Clan Campaign's first sketch to the Community. An intense period in which our Game Designers worked hard on developing new content, new missions, troops and graphics. Now some of you might be already familiar with terms such as the Meadhall, Smokehouse or Stronghold from our Sneak Peek updates or from the test server itself. In this Developer's Diary, we're going to dive into what the Mountain Clan Campaign entails: from your first steps in an unforgiving enemy territory to adapting to your environment and mastering its challenges.


    IMPORTANT INFORMATION
    Deployment date: 19th of June, 2018 with the game update

    What: The Mountain Clan Campaign with five different missions

    Level requirement: 65+


    It all starts with the overgrown Mountain near the Archipelago, which, upon reaching level 65, will turn into a flaming volcano... hmmm, this is a bit unsettling, isn't it?


    Since an erupting volcano isn't particularly a comforting sight, you have to take action and embark on an expedition to avert the crisis before it's too late. On your way, you hear all sorts of legends about a tribe of Nords living in the mountains... Some people say their women have beards. Others will tell you a lot about their height, and some stories suggest that they even hold dragons as pets.

    Are you driven by curiosity and willing to unveil the mystery surrounding the Mountain Clan? Prove you're up to the challenge and let the adventure begin!

    The first mission, At the Foot of the Mountain, will be available through the Excelsior. Captain Graham's ship will take you there, but it will only be visible in the first mission.

    At the Foot of the Mountain introduces you to the saga while stirring your investigative skills: find clues about the fabled Mountain Clan while earning the native people's trust and rebuilding Nords Town to gain access to further areas.

    At the Foot of the Mountain - The first MCC Mission
    Storyline
    Following the rumours about the mysterious Mountain Clan you discover the homeland of the Nords. Searching for clues about the Mountain Clan you stumble upon a peaceful but mistrusting Nords town in distress. Though they cannot help you directly, they promise to point you in the direction where you could possibly find further clues, but only if you agree to help them out of their misery. Surrounded by vicious wildlife and renegade Nords Bandits the Nords people are cut off from the outside world. The contact to nearby outposts has been lost long ago and there is no possibility to craft new tools in the harsh environment. Restoring a few of their vital buildings will already help the Nords and also free the path further into the icy mountain region. On your way, you may discover old texts about a Nords tribe shrouded in legend, which Sonya luckily is able to decipher. But will these legends prove themselves true? Only time will tell...

    A new building that works similar to the Footie Pitch will by chance be part of the loot for this Mission.



    Meadhall - Celebrate like the Nords. A festival hall to start various zone wide effects.

    • The building functions like a cultural building
    • Three different buffs can be triggered: Barracks Celebrations, Provisioner Banquet, Craftsmen Feast
    • Every time a buff is triggered, all owned Meadhalls go into cooldown
    • The cooldown time is divided by the number of Meadhalls
    • The cooldown time starts at 48h then 24h, 16h, 12h...etc.
    • Triggering a buff costs resources

    Unknown Regions - The second MCC Mission



    It's a story about surviving the harsh environment by befriending and trading with Nords villages. Things are not easy either when it comes to decision-making; you will have to choose whom to help, each outcome eventually eliminating a different debuff.

    Storyline
    Making your way further inland, you realize you had underestimated the elements. The going is rough and you give up on travelling further without making additional preparations.

    Luckily, small, remote Nords villages have adapted to their homeland by producing specialized gear. Meanwhile, the area is overrun by empowered wildlife, beasts that have allegedly been sent by the Mountain Clan.

    The good side is that the Nords appreciate their pelts and are willing to trade them against the equipment they craft. All this is explained by a new companion, a Nords hermit who offers to be your guide.

    Once you decide the head further north, you find the bandits from the previous venture waiting in a mountain pass! Looks like they won't let you off the hook so easily.

    After dispatching the bandits, you head deep into the mountains...

    A new building that works similar to the Provision House will by chance be part of the loot for this Mission.



    Smokehouse - A smokery in the style of the Nords. Smokes fish to produce a tasty buff.

    • The building functions like a Provision House
    • One buff can be triggered: Smoked Fish Steak.

    The third mission, Mountain Labyrinth, will be available as a follow-up from Unknown Regions.

    Get ready for an immersive experience with the Mountain Labyrinth, a challenging Mission in which you have to clear blocked paths to get through a labyrinth in the mountains and find clues about the Mountain Clan. You must decide which path to take - but do so after careful deliberation: the other paths will then be blocked after you've committed. Will you get lost in the labyrinthine paths, or will you escape the maze and continue on?

    Mountain Labyrinth - The third MCC Mission
    Storyline
    Heading further into the mountain regions on the quest to find the Mountain Clan, you get lost in the canyons between the mountains. Labyrinthine paths are blocked by big rocks, snow, and rubble. On your way you stumble upon several Stronghold Ruins where you find further clues about the Mountain Clan, pointing further up in the mountain region. It appears that some heavy battles took place here...

    A new building will by chance be part of the loot for this Mission.




    Stronghold - A simple, yet alluring item production building containing 3 powerful recruitment buffs.

    • The building functions like a Provision House
    • Three different buffs can be triggered: Mountain Climbing, Ice Swimming, Tundra Marching
    • With every Stronghold owned, the buff production time is reduced

    The fourth mission, The People of the Mountain, will be available as a follow-up from Mountain Labyrinth.

    The People of the Mountain is a Mission which demands the finest use of tactics and diplomacy: defeat fewer, but stronger camps to be able to craft buffs that could come in handy at some point...

    The People of the Mountain - The fourth MCC Mission
    Storyline
    Things are not always what they seem, and the Mountain Clan has purposely deceived many for the greater good. You're about to get involved in an ancient conflict... choose wisely whom you side with!

    You will also get access to a brand new resource: Obsidian, shards of which can be found in various locations that have been claimed by the enemy. Reclaim them to stop beasts from repeatedly breaking through!
    A new residence building will by chance be part of the loot for this Mission.




    Nords Residence - A roomy Nords Residence providing living space for 140 Settlers.

    • The building increases the population limit

    The fifth mission, A Giant Battle, will be available as a follow-up from The People of the Mountain.

    In A Giant Battle you have the chance of becoming a legend yourself by challenging the fabled monsters that no one could ever defeat! Will you be the one to lift the burden of a lifelong battle?

    A Giant Battle - The fifth MCC Mission



    Storyline
    As the mystery unfolds, it is now time to make your choice: will you side with the Mountain Clan to free their hands to help you out with the troubles on your home island?

    The bridges to the giant realm have been destroyed as the last resort action to keep them shut in, though this prohibits also every attempt to rid the world of this threat for good. The Mountain Clan could already witness your strength as general and allow one bridge to be repaired. In case you don't succeed within a given time, they will have to destroy the bridge again. Many blockades and gates are still intact, keeping the bigger giants in check.

    Rumours say their leader feeds off the power of his vices. It has been a long time since any human set foot in these lands. You will have to explore the area on your own. Better prepare for some epic battles ahead!

    Now that the threat is conclusively at bay, you finally have time to attend to the larger issue at hand: the erupting Volcano! But fret not - your friends want to offer their aid as a token of gratitude. They will lend you their most famous architects, smiths and masons who have specialized knowledge in all types of metals. By working together with them, you can construct a new Epic building which will not only prevent the Volcano from erupting but harness its raw primal power for the benefit of the people: The Epic Forge.


    By completing the 5 Mission chain, a unique production chain building will be rewarded: an Epic Forge, which is an Epic Workyard with production chains related to ore and swords.



    The Mountain Clan Campaign comes with a new resource reward which is used to purchase the epic reward buildings directly at epic category of the merchant: obsidian ore!

    Description: A smokery in the style of the Nords. Smokes fish to produce a tasty buff.

    Getting your hands on these rewards won't be an easy task - in fact, we're almost counting on it! The gruesome enemies are without mercy when it comes to outsiders; you'll come face to face against some of the most deadly enemies to date! The Elite Frost units include many enemies who are will do anything to try and halt your progress. You'll have to survive the vicious onslaught of cunning Frost Wolves and the mighty claws of Frost Bears. Worse of all, however, is the Risi: you'll have to contend with not only their gigantic size but their devious minds in battle. This is but a mere preview of what you may encounter, so keep your wits about you when you venture out into enemy lands!

    [Diario de los Desarrolladores] Campaña el Clan de la Montaña


    Estimado Settlers,

    Han pasado siete meses desde que presentamos el primer boceto de la campaña el Clan de la Montaña en la Comunidad. Un período intenso en el que nuestros diseñadores de juegos trabajaron duro para desarrollar nuevos contenidos, nuevas misiones y tropas, nuevas mecánicas de juego y gráficos. Ahora algunos de ustedes ya estarán familiarizados con términos como el mineral de obsidiana o edificios como el Salón de festejos y el ahumadero de nuestras actualizaciones del primer vistazo o del servidor de prueba. En este Diario de los desarrolladores, vamos a sumergirnos en el contenido de la Campaña del Clan de la Montaña: desde tus primeros pasos en un territorio enemigo implacable, a adaptarte a tu entorno y dominar sus desafíos.


    INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE
    Fecha de implementación: Día 19 de Junio de 2018 con la actualización del juego

    Qué: Campaña el Clan de la Montaña con cinco misiones diferentes

    Nivel requerido: 65+


    Todo comienza con la montaña gigante cerca del archipiélago, que, al llegar al nivel 65, se convertirá en un volcán en llamas ... hmmm, esto es un poco inquietante, ¿verdad?


    Dado que un volcán en erupción no es particularmente reconfortante, debe tomar medidas y embarcarse en una expedición para evitar la crisis antes de que sea demasiado tarde. En el camino, escuchas todo tipo de leyendas sobre una tribu de Norteños que viven en las montañas ... Algunas personas dicen que sus mujeres tienen barba. Otros te dirán mucho sobre su altura, y algunas historias sugieren que incluso tienen dragones como mascotas.

    ¿Te mueve la curiosidad y estás dispuesto a desvelar el misterio que rodea al Clan de la Montaña? ¡Demuestra que estás preparado para el desafío y deja que comience la aventura!

    La primera misión, Al pie de la montaña, estará disponible en la Excelsior. La nave de la capitana Graham te llevará allí, pero solo será visible la primera misión.

    Al pie de la montaña te introduce en la saga mientras ejercitas tus habilidades de investigación: encuentra pistas sobre el legendario Clan de la Montaña mientras ganas la confianza de los nativos y reconstruyes el pueblo nórdico para tener acceso a otras zonas.

    Al pie de la Montaña - Primera misión de la CCM
    Historia
    Siguiendo los rumores sobre el misterioso Clan de la Montaña, descubres la tierra de los Nordicos. Buscando pistas sobre el Clan de la Montaña, encuentras un pueblo del norte en apuros. Sus habitantes son pacíficos pero parecen mirarte con recelo. Aunque ellos no pueden ayudarte directamente, prometen indicarte la dirección en la que posiblemente puedas encontrar más pistas, pero solo si aceptas ayudarlos a salir de su miseria. Asediados por la atroz vida salvaje y los renegados bandidos norteños, esta tribu del norte está aislada del resto del mundo. El contacto con colonias cercanas se ha perdido hace mucho tiempo y no hay posibilidad de crear nuevas herramientas en este entorno hostil. La restauración de algunos de sus edificios principales ayudará a los nórdicos y despejará el camino hacia esta región fría montañosa. En el camino, podría descubrir textos antiguos místicos y legendarios sobre una tribu de Norteños envuelta en leyendas, que por casualidad Sonya, puede descifrar. Pero, ¿estas leyendas están bien fundadas? Sólo el tiempo dirá...

    Un nuevo edificio que funciona de manera similar al campo de fútbol pequeño, será por azar, parte del botín de esta Misión.



    Salón de festejos - Celebra como los Nórdicos. Una sala de fiestas para iniciar varios efectos de zona.


    • El edificio funciona como un edificio cultural
    • Se pueden activar tres potenciadores diferentes: Festejo(s) del cuartel, Banquete(s) de aprovisionadores, Festín(es) de artesanos
    • Cada vez que se activa un potenciador, todos los salones de festejos entran en enfriamiento
    • El tiempo de recuperación se divide por el número de salones de festejos
    • El tiempo de recuperación comienza a las 48h y luego a las 24h, 16h, 12h ... etc.
    • Activar un potenciador cuesta recursos

    Regiones Desconocidas - La segunda misión de la CCM



    Es una historia sobre la supervivencia en el medio hostil al hacer amistad y comerciar con las aldeas nórdicas. Las cosas tampoco son fáciles cuando se trata de tomar decisiones; Tendrás que elegir a quién ayudar, y cada elección te llevará finalmente a una situación diferente.
    Historia
    A medida que avanzas hacia el interior, notas que has subestimado la fuerza de los elementos. El camino es arduo y decides no continuar caminando hasta que hayas hecho preparativos adicionales.

    Afortunadamente, las pequeñas aldeas aisladas del norte se han adaptado al medio ambiente mediante la fabricación de equipos especializados. Mientras tanto, la región en la que te encuentras ha sido invadida por fauna silvestre, bestias que supuestamente fueron enviadas por el Clan de la montaña.

    Lo bueno es que los vikingos aprecian las pieles y quieren hacer un intercambio por herramientas. Todo esto se lo explicará su nuevo compañero, un ermitaño vikingo que se ofreció a guiarlo.

    Cuando decidas viajar más al norte, ¡encontrarás a bandidos de batallas anteriores esperando en un paso de la montaña! No parecen rendirse tan rápido.

    Después de deshacerte de los bandidos, te adentras en las montañas ...

    Un nuevo edificio que funciona de manera similar a la casa de provisiones será, por azar, parte del botín de esta Misión.



    Ahumador- Un ahumadero al estilo de los Nórdicos. Ahuma pescado para producir un sabroso potenciador.

    • El edificio funciona como una casa de provisión
    • Se puede activar un potenciador: Filete de pescado ahumado.
