The event resource is called Footballs. They can be traded and are listed in the Storehouse (Event tab) as usual.

Footballs can be gathered in a variety of ways:
    • Collectible footballs spawn on the home zone
    • Normal Adventures will drop footballs, including scenarios, mini-missions, and ventures
    • Event adventures from the event calendar always drop a fixed amount of footballs
    • Event quests reward footballs
    • Treasure hunts will reward footballs on top of the usual loot
    • Event achievements reward the player with Footballs upon completion
    • The merchant
    • Trading with other players

New to 2021 is a brand new quest chain: "Invasive Species", which will see you defending your home island against non-native creatures which threaten the ecosystem you so sorely depend on. At Level 26, you will be notified that a cargo vessel doing trade on your island has brought with it a selection of unwanted passengers: highly invasive critters who pose a very real danger if left unchecked. Thankfully, you have a team of experts on hand with a wealth of experience with these pesky faunas.

To complete the main quest chain, you will need to tackle each invasive species individually in a set of sub-quests. Make sure you pay attention to their names, descriptions, apparent weaknesses! Sometime after the event launches, we'll be asking the community to draw their own renditions of what these creatures look like, with prizes for the best ones. Keep an eye on our usual channels for more information in the near future!

    Invasive species
We have discovered a huge challenge for our archipelago. Together with the conveyed goods, a trade partner's cargo vessel brought unwanted passengers: Highly invasive species from abroad, which pose a real danger to our ecosystem. The good news: Experts have already provided us a list of appropriate countermeasures to deal with the intruders one after the other.

In 2018 we introduced the quest chain A Host of Responsibilities, which starts at level 22 or above. It deals with the costs and responsibilities of hosting tournament matches on your island. The rewards focus on coins, a stacking population growth buff (that is immediately applied; it doesn't go to the star menu), and a big reward for completing the whole chain. The new quest chain's sub-quests unlock after a certain number of days after your first login during the event, and not the event start.

For the first 15 days of the event, a new quest in this chain will be unlocked and starts if or when you have finished the preceding one. For example, if you don't finish the first quest until the third day, then you will get the second quest immediately upon completing it, followed by the third quest after the second one is done. If you then complete the third quest on day three, you will still not receive the fourth quest until the fourth day of the event. The daily time during which a new quest is unlocked should match the first time that you logged in during the event.

Every day, you will receive a random quest, similar in scope to regular daily quests, that will reward various tactical resources. Active premium time will not offer a second quest!

    The Hottest Day
    Task (Level 16-26)
    Pay 1250 water.
    Rewards
    8x
Over the last few days, temperatures have been rising higher and higher. Today it is almost unendurable. Your squad needs way more drinking water than usual. Provide some from your storage!

    Pay 45 coins.
    Rewards
    8x
Traveling actors are visiting your island and give a stunning theatrical performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. As a team building measure, you and your squad attend to the play. Players are delighted and so are you. Provide some extra tip for the artists to make sure they come again next summer!

    Stadium Repairs
    Task (Level 37-55)
Pay 160 Marble and 240 RealPlank.
    Rewards
    8x
One of the tournament's stadiums needs safety repairs. You can't risk any of the crowd getting injured. Provide the materials needed to carry out the repairs!

    A Stadium Magazine
    Task (Level 56-80)
    Pay 400 AdvancedPaper.
    Rewards
    8x
A supportive settler volunteers to produce and hand out stadium magazines during matches. He asks you for quality materials to print on

    Friendly Match
    Task (Level 56-80)
    Pay 11 Recruits.
    Rewards
    8x
Some of your team's players lack match experience. Arrange a friendly match and assemble a squad of 11 Recruits to play against!

A tournament quest chain will guide you through the mechanics of the event, regarding collecting tactical resources, production of tactics buffs, and their use in the event scenarios. The quest chain is linked to the Fixture List, as the quests will often ask you to open certain doors.

To access the Fixture List, just click on the icon next to your avatar.

    3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOORS
There is a total of 21 doors. You can open one door each day. Opening missed doors for gems has been increased to 100 gems for normal doors and 300 gems for special doors due to a much higher value in the calendar. This year we've also overhauled the Event Calendar to reward fresh new items to make it more exciting!

Don't forget to open the doors daily and also remind your friends to do so!

5 non-combat Event Adventures inspired by football matches become available through the Fixture List: Practice Match, Round of 16, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals.

The goal of Special Event Adventures is to win football matches by countering all of the opponents' skills.
You do this by applying the correct Tactical Items. Every opponent unit/skill can be defeated by either of two Tactical Items (your choice).

    Adventure Tournament Mode
Bear in mind that your matches have to be completed in order. You will not be able to start an adventure if you haven't completed the quest to beat the previous one first (*). To make things easier, if you cancel one of the adventures it will return to you by mail. Your progress will not be saved, but you won't get stuck and you can use this method to scout your opponent's skills.

    * The adventure "Practice match" does not have to be completed.

Completing event-related achievements is a means of earning footballs. The achievements do not contribute to the overall achievement score and the ones that have not been earned by the end of the event will be hidden from the achievement menu.
The achievements deal with many aspects of the event:
    • Completing tournament adventures
    • Opening all doors of the Fixture List
    • Completing Summer quests
    • Earning footballs through explorer searches
    • Collecting event collectables
    • Producing tactical buffs
    • Trading tactical resources

Winning all matches earns you a golden statue: the Champion's Trophy 2021!

    Dev Diary Update

    Dear settlers,

We have made the following adjustments/clarifications:

    • The Adventurous Explorer is not available for Footballs on her own but is available via the "Summer Booster" Bundle for Footballs.
    • The Swan Boat's in-game description incorrectly states "150 Population" - however once purchased it will provide the correct 210 Population.
    • The Capacious Warehouse in-game is actually located in the Architect Category for Gems, not the Event Category.

Additionally, we're aware that players were not able to successfully run the "Practice Match" adventure awarded from the first Calendar Door. Therefore we will be sending all eligible players the "Practice Match" adventure soon - keep an eye on your in-game mails!

We apologize for any confusion or frustration caused.

    Happy Settling,
    BB_Sious
